Not your ordinary Gettysburg tour, we put together an itinerary that’s enlightening, informative, and entertaining ... and our folks LOVED it!  ~~ The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North.  Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", it was the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

Meet A ‘Union Soldier’!

*** Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center – We include admission to all three excellent programs here:

~~ A 20-minute film, ‘A New Birth of Freedom’, narrated by award-winning actor Morgan Freeman, will orient you to Gettysburg’s place in the American Civil War. It places you in the center of the battle’s three-day time frame — learn about the famous generals who influenced the battle from Robert E. Lee to George Meade and what were the crucial events that lead to the Union’s victory.

~~ The Gettysburg Museum of the Civil War, featuring items from one of the world’s largest collections of Civil War relics. With 22,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, you’ll view relics of the Battle of Gettysburg, meet personalities who served in the Civil War, participate in inter-active exhibits, and see multi-media presentations that cover the conflict from beginning to end as well as describe the sobering aftermath.

~~  A French artist created the Battle of Gettysburg Cyclorama oil painting, spending months on the battlefield doing research with veterans, a battlefield guide and a photographer. It took a team of assistants more than a year to complete the painting. The result is a breathtaking canvas longer than a football field and as tall as a four-story structure. Along with light and sound effects, you’ll be immersed in the fury of Pickett’s Charge.

*** “Steam Into History Train” – Embark on a scenic ride through the beautiful countryside of York County on a historic railway of the late 1820’s.  It chronicles the ride taken by Lincoln on the way to his now-famous Gettysburg Address, considered one of the greatest speeches in American history.  Old #17 is a faithful replica of the Civil War steam engine that carried Abe, and among other things, you’ll hear about the skirmish at Hanover Junction prior to the Battle of Gettysburg.~ Imagine Lincoln pondering his speech as his train rumbled along on the North Central RR.

*** Licensed Battlefield Guide – A Park Guide will board our coach for a 2-hr tour of the battlefield. The Gettysburg National Military Park encompasses nearly 6,000 acres with over 26 miles of roads connecting major battlefield landmarks including Cemetery Hill and the “High Water Mark”. There are over 1,300 monuments, markers and memorials, 400 cannons and numerous historic houses.  We’ll see as much as possible during our allotted time here – your Guide will tell you what you’re seeing, and the stories behind it.  It’s the very best way to experience the Battle.

*** Union Soldier – Be engrossed by stories of war as a “real” Union Soldier joins us!  Mr. Chris Rebmann, a professional re-enactor, will bring the Civil War to life like only talented historians can – plus enjoy time for questions after. ~You’ll believe you’ve just been with the real deal!

*** 1860’s Shriver House – We’ve learned what happened on the battlefield, but do you know what happened to the families and their homes in town? Travel back in time with a living historian in period attire for the very interesting civilian experience!   Due to the award-winning meticulous restoration, it has been used as a filming site by PBS, The Discovery Channel, The Travel Channel, HGTV, The History Channel and more!

*** Gettysburg Heritage Center – Journey to another era to see the realities of war and hear the stories of the people who called Gettysburg home. Their stories are told through 3-D photographs and programs, artifacts, interactive displays, and story boards. Also see a 20-min. award-winning movie, “Gettysburg: An Animated Map,” presented by the Civil War Trust. It’s like watching the battle play out move-by-move.

*** Farnsworth House Dinner – A Confederate meal and an amazing story of Civil War happenings right at this historic building!

*** Markets at Shrewsbury – Multiple Pennsylvania Dutch Farmers Markets with over 17,000 square feet of fresh food vendors - Fun, fun!

*** Free Time in Historic Downtown Gettysburg – You’ll love poking into the quaint stores to peruse the ones that interest you most!

*** Historic Dobbin House – A lovely dinner awaits at this beautifully & authentically restored stone home, now an inviting colonial restaurant.

*** Hollabaugh Bros Farm Market – Take a guided wagon ride thru the farm & orchards and see the bounty of Adams County  – Delightful!

As you can see, this is a Very Special Tour ~ We invite you to join us for the unique opportunity!
